This is getting very frustrating. I just got my logger back from a warranty return and I tried to download the files from it but there is nothing in the one file that it downloaded. I admit that I haven't messed around with this much today but I tried to download with Winlog and it said there was stored data, then when it was done it said it had downloaded 14 files, but I can only find one and there is no information in it, just:

WinLog v1.02 - www.devtechnics.com
logtime

Has anybody else had this problem or is there something that I could be doing wrong? Could a faulty cord/port cause this? It is confusing to me why it says it downloaded 14 files but they are nowhere to be found.

Hm. I do not really have so much experience with the loggng function, but....
Obviously its a problem for the WBO unit if the file is not "closed". I.e. you will have to start logging and to stop it while the WBO unit is powered up. Then Tewblog notices that there is a new logfile in the unit.
If you know already about this...how about simply clearing the logging memory? Refer to the documentation. AFAIR, Yo have to press the logging-button for a longer time? With a totally empty memory it should work, then.
Good luck!

Thomas,
It seems as though this one has the same problem as my last one, it erases my logged data wheneer the power is turned off to the unit. Evil or Very Mad . Anyone have any ideas why this keeps happening to me?

Hi Howie!
Do you use the TE Display? I did so (biklt up a WBO for a friend of mine). With this, it is easy to see what the actuall state of the logger is like: It displays "L on" (start logging) and "L oFF" (Stop logging). and "L cLr" (erase memory) In my case it worked fine! Otherwise I must admit I would run into trouble logging the data.

Thomas,
I have an LA1 and I have always had it say Loff when I cut power to the unit. If I try to download a file before shutting power off it is there, if I then shut the power off then power it back on it will download a blank file. No, I didn't tell it to clear the memory after it downloaded either. Is there a way to hook up the unit that could cause this problem? I find it very unlikely that I happened to get two that have the same problem when no one else is having the problem. Also, I don't think this has anything to do with Winlog or TEWBlog, but I will check it again with TEWBlog whenever I get a chance.

I'm having the same problem. It started on the weekend while I was racing my boat. I was using Tewblog which was working fine on Saturday then on Sunday it sarted downloading empty logs after the power was turned off then on again. I have a 2A1.

Anyway, Last night I started having a play and I kept getting the same results with Tewblog, so I decided to give Winlog a go. I found if I downloaded when it prompted me on start up it would give a blank log, but If clicked no and then used the download button on the "dash screen" it would work correctly.

This still doesn't explain why Tewblog stopped working though. At least with winlog you can try downloading again if you don't delete the memory unlike tewblog which always deletes it.

Thanks Devojet, I will have to see if that helps. It seems like I had tried that before but I am not sure. If you don't shut the power off to the unit and try to download with Winlog when it prompts when you first open Winlog (ick, what a mouthful), does it still download a blank file? My only does it when I shut the power off. Does your 2A1 have 1MB of memory? I wonder if it is the same as what is used in the 3E2 and 3A2. I'm somewhat glad that I am not the only one, I couldn't find anything wrong with my wiring, so hopefully this will help and I wont have to think that maybe I am doing something wrong. Maybe I'll leave work early to try it! Very Happy

Devojet,
you are a genious and you saved several people, me near the top of that list, a lot of time. If I download with the button on Winlog it works just fine!!!! Now I can finally start doing some tuning. I really do appreciate it alot.
One last thing, should all of the files download into one file?
Thanks again,
Howard
P.S. I'm glad you gave me a reason to leave work early!

My set up is a 2A1(1M memory), LD02 display and a USB to serial converter. I think it works fine if you don't turn the power off. I'm not sure about all the logs in one file, I have only started using Winlog the other night. I know with Tewblog it will ask you if you want to combine the logs into one file.

We may have found a way around the problem, but it still doesn't explain why Tewblog stopped working. Mine has worked fine with Tewblog for years then just stopped working. Hopefully someone else might have some more idears.

Cheers

Daniel.

I'm now having this problem with Winlog as well. It doesn't matter which way I try to download logs it just returns a file with the header and 1 or 2 lines of data.

I did a dump using the utility tool terminal program and it seemed to dump all the logs, although the lines where not all the same length after the 5A,A5 header and the frame sequence number was skipping some numbers.

Does anyone know what could be causing this. I even tried using a different laptop which had never had winlog loaded.

Regards

Daniel.

I fixed the problem. The 1M logging madule must have had dirty contacts or something. I pulled it out and pluged it back in and now it works fine again.

Regards

Daniel.
