Hi Guys,

Im having problems downloading onboard logs with winlog.

I log using button on 3B1 (following instructions, first set log enable state.. then log on and log off).

When i connect to the device using Old TEWBLOG, i get a prompt stating datalogs available and can view them fine etc BUT when i use WINLOG i dont get a prompt.

So i try to manually download by clicking DOWNLOAD DATA button on my Dash .. it saves an auto generated file but the file does not contain my log... and is always very smal 1,2, or 7k max.

Any idea?

Try as I might, I can't get the problem to reproduce here. If you send Justin an email at support@devtechnics.com I'm sure he will get back to you quickly with some suggestions.

Like Anders and Maz, I can't get the logs off my 3A2. Winlog, newest version, detects the logs, counts off the download percentage very realistically (slower for longer logs) but saves only a single 1KB file with just this in it.

WinLog v1.0 - www.devtechnics.com
logtime

I've tried 2 different computers and both serial and USB.

Bill,
Just to confirm, this is v1.02, and you're still having issues? I'd like to try and figure out what's happening here, not sure why it's working for some and not others... very strange!

Glad to hear that's working for you Anders! Hopefully this little issue has been fixed now!

im getting this exact problem with a 2A1 on vista with winlog v1.02.

i got the thing up and running last night and was trying to work out how to transfer the logs from the device to pc. i inadvertently succeeded but didn't realise till later - the *.txt file i found has all the headings and data as normal.

now when i transfer the logs i just get the same as described above, a .txt that only goes down to "logtime"

i may have messed with some settings in the 2A1 in trying to get it to work (i dont really know what im doing with rs232 terminals and the like.

I have tried to put settings back to default as described below:

s03xx

Set logging control byte to xx (hex) where xx bits are defined (default = bold) :
b7 - Frame generation, 1 = Auto (always produced), 0 = Manual.
b6 - Frame type, 1 = Binary, 0 = hex/ASCII.
b5 - USR inputs, 1 = scale to 1.5 format (scaled x8 = 13 bits), 0 = raw.
b4 - Frame mode, 1 = debug mode (ASCII/Hex), (See * note below)
0 = normal (binary).
b3-0 Frame type (See * note below)
0 : V1.5 compatible mode.
1 : V2.0 log mode.

by typing s0371 in the prompt and so on (response to that is 0071)

this hasn't helped

can you help me!?

Thanks
Mike

small update, just worked out that it downloads data fine with tewblog, and creates the *.txt that has all the data in it

doesn't seem to work with winlog.... oh well

Mike,
If TEWBLOG is working, we should be able to get WinLog working too. I'd like to work with you to figure out the problem. There's some debug messages that I can turn on that will help us isolate the issue.

Are you using a USB->RS232 adapter? If so, have you tried a real RS-232 port yet?

Justin

I'm having a similar issue with my 2a1 and version1.01. I will check this out further, but I have lost a few logs tonight. I think, but will check it out tomorrow, if after downloading the memory, and I don't choose to clear the onboard memory it is fine. When I choose to clear the memory after the download, the file is lost?? I will update on further testing.

Hi, I also I'm having no luck with onboard logging.
Im using latest software of winlog with 2J1 and a LX1 display.
Everything works fine, very nice software; only problem I have is when I download onboard log it checks and says there is no onboard log.
Display shows it's logging but no file is able to downlog.
OP is Vista32 with virtual serial.
Cheers Ian
