Hi,

Using Win7, and everytime I try to use WinLog with my 2J1 it says "error initializing device. would you like to retry?" Click yes and it says "unable to initialize" Click no and nothing happens.

Any ideas? All the drivers are installed - the USB one from the TechEdge website, plus WinLog says that it has all driver support for TechEdge at any rate.

Cheers,
Jacob

Hi, I've tried running Techedge and Winlog on Vista and Win7 too, and they just weren't having it. I think it's just down to Vista/7 being the generally fussy crap-bags they are.

There might be a way to get it to work but I never bothered. I just sacked off the Vista laptop, bought a cheap Laptop with ME and intalled XP!

I really hate Vista!

BTW, my setup is:
Win XP
2J1
Winlog
USB/serial port adaptor

To get the 2J1 and USB/serial adaptor to work together I have to:
Boot up XP
then plug in the 2J1 via the USB/serial adaptor
THEN switch on the 2J1
THEN open up Winlog

If I do it in any other order it doesn't work.

Oh really?

Hmmmm alright might give those steps you said a go with my Win7 otherwise I might bite the bullet and get XP laptop...

When you say "turn on 2J1" do you mean switch the ignition on/car on? Thats what I think you mean, but just checking!

Cheers for the reply!

Jacob

I have my WBo2 connected directly to the car battery, with a rocker switch connected inline to switch it on.

So if your WB is connected to ignition live, then yeah switch on the car.

I have had the same problem using my notebook with XP on it.

I have did all the tests in common problems from the Tech Edge site so I know my connections are good, I have tried the prceedure listed by KJ16V above and many other configurations but still it does not work.

It starts with "device did not initailize", goes through "reinitalize" but the message comes up on the bottom left of the dashboard "awaiting for device synch" and logs nothing.

Its doing my head in as its the only thing stopping me from using the WBO2, not what I hoped for.

Can anyone shed any light on my plight lol?

You using Winlog? Have you got all the right COM port and other settings right in the Device Configuration window?

Yes mate, I used the tech edge WBUtil software to check the serial cable and the loop back test confirmed I had the correct port selected.

I have selected the Tech Edge WBO2 unit in the device configuration but did not adjust any other settings.

Is there any settings in there you can think of that may cause it?

Think I may have sussed from my last post what I might have not done. I think I have only looked at the device settings and not the field settings for the device.

I will have another try at it, thanks for your help.

Ok, I have now set the lambda 1 field by importing the data from the winlog files for lanbda-gasoline-afr. I have also set up the logging files but I still have the same problem.

The winlog software still wont initalise or synchronise with the WBO2.

Any more suggestions as to what it may be?
